Questions:

What is Wild Rec?
Aw shucks, thanks for asking!
Wild Rec is a homeschool (and nature kid) sports & recreation club that took root in the wilds of Pennsylvania. When we started out, it was truly just to meet other homeschoolers who might want to play daytime baseball and wear matching shirts, yet it's grown into so much more. At the heart of it all, we're building a community for likeminded families like ours to foster natural connections and meet others looking to incorporate movement, play, friend-making, and outdoor time into their school day.
We host daytime, weekday league sports coached by fellow homeschooling parents in a low-stakes, instructional way. The Wild Rec approach is to put individual skill building at the forefront of practices and allow for siblings and friends to learn alongside eachother. Finally a sports structure where the weekends are yours and you commit to a schedule beforehand! :)
Wild Rec is also the place to find activities, classes, and training by local professionals where skill—and sometimes equipment—are not a barrier to trying something new. Learn more about us here.

Where is Wild Rec based?
That's the most exciting part! Our team sports can be anywhere a willing homeschooling Mama, Dad, big brother or sister step up! All it takes is someone willing to coach. Did we mention we send you everything you need?
We've seen growth like wildfire, where one team pops up another quickly follows, making for opportunities to scrimmage and build community across different friend groups and co-ops alike.
The story is the same with partnerships! If you own or have connections to a business you'd like to start a homeschool class with, we'd love to help you create a community local to you and make it happen!
Wild Rec started in the greater Philadelphia area in April of 2024. The fall prior, we found ourselves lugging baseball equipment everywhere we went with our co-op, for a group of kids who just craved play! Naturally, as a Mama with a design background, my head went straight to making matching shirts and inviting other homeschoolers to join. This sprouted a very special idea that we knew would serve other families just as it did ours.
We now have over 1500 families in our network spanning over 8 local PA counties! Come January 2026, you'll be able to find us in Florida! Only you know where we should pop up next. :)
Do we have to be a homeschool family to participate?

Actually, no! You do however have to have daytime, weekday availability, so micro-schoolers, hybrid, cyber or tech school kids could make it happen... toddlers too!
If you don't fit in that category, but our principals ring true to what you'd like to experience in youth sports, stay tuned! Our summer programming includes 4 week kickball and wiffle ball leagues plus classes, camp & clinic opportunities to keep the friend-making going. Wild Rec is carving a space for kiddos to come together to enjoy sports & recreation with specific goals to be unplugged, play sandlot style no matter your age or skill level, and to be accepted, encouraged, and enlightened by peers along the way.
Do you offer competitive sports play?
As of now, we are leaving truly competitive play to the other leagues. We do however scrimmage amongst our teammates in age-appropriate brackets, as well as with other local teams per coach discretion. We do not use official umps or refs, and our goal is ultimately to learn rather than to win.
In the greater Philadelphia area, we do host an end-of-season tournament with round-robin style play amongst our active teams. As other areas see growth, this will be a possibility elsewhere as well!
When does registration open?
Make sure you are subscribed to our e-mail list or following along on Facebook to find out when league sign-ups go live! We are dependent on coaches stepping up in order to know where and when meetups will be available, so again, another reason to become a wild coach! You can ensure there is a time and location that works for your family and offer it as an option for others.
Typically registration opens 8 weeks prior to the start of the season and closes 5 weeks prior in order to get uniforms ordered and delivered. Teams fill fast, so be sure to get registered early! A new team can be started if your first choice sells out. Check our sports page for the full list.

Do you offer scholarships?
Though we don't offer scholarships, we do offer free play for coaches kids aside from a small uniform fee! More exciting news: launching in 2026, we have an affiliate program where you can grab credits toward classes and leagues by sharing on local Facebook groups, organizing events, or by having friends use a code specific to you! Want to organize an event for us? Your kids participate free as long as there are enough participants to run it! For more information, send us a note at affiliate@wildrecclub.com.
How can my co-op get involved?
For the 26/27 school year, our co-op kit is getting a total, very exciting makeover! You'll be able to choose a 6 week curriculum to last the whole school year for 4 different sports of your choice and customize your Wild Rec uniform shirts with your co-op name, last names, favorite numbers and wear them across activities! Scrimmage locally or join our end-of-season tournament for a chance to rep your co-op amongst our bigger community. More info soon!
How do you make all age, co-ed sports work?
Much like homeschooling, we believe wholeheartedly in the benefit of multi-age learning. We have three groupings of kiddos we work with: seedlings (3-6yo), wildlings (7-12yo), & saplings (14+), but more importantly we see skills vary amongst these groups as well. With some older beginners, or some really advanced little kids, we work together to gain more experience and practice in the sports we join in on. Saplings are coaches in training, and hopefully with enough interest, will lead us to be able to offer teen-specific leagues or meetups. To keep things safe, we do split up for age appropriate scrimmaging, this looks a bit different per each sport.
I have an idea for an offering, who can I contact?
We're all ears at Hello@Wildrecclub.com, please write us, we'd love to brainstorm with you! Otherwise, head here to find more ways to get involved.
